The NCC states that termite risks should be managed when a primary building element is subject to attack by subterranean termites: AS 3660.1; This will depend on the composition of the building element. However, a termite mitigation plan complying with local, state and federal requirements can help protect your products from termites and extend or maintain product warranties.

Some steps recommended to protect houses from termites include: annual inspections by a termite management contractor, owner inspections, not compromising the termite management system, protecting ‘weep holes’ (moisture escape holes close to ground level) and leaving a 25 mm inspection zone between a freestanding structure and a house.
