BlueScope - COLORBOND® steel
With a wide range of colours and finishes, COLORBOND® steel is the ideal solution for roofing and walling systems that demand design flexibility. The COLORBOND® steel colour palette is designed to allow you to confidently express yourself, with 22 classic and contemporary colours to choose from, and now offers five colours in 'Matt' that beautifully diffuses light for a soft, textured, designer finish.
Underpinning the COLORBOND® steel range is BlueScope’s new Activate® technology, making COLORBOND® steel more resistant to corrosion when drilled, cut or scratched, thereby prolonging its lifespan. Australians have a love of coastal living, that’s why we have developed a COLORBOND® steel range to suit a wide range of environments. COLORBOND® steel is developed for, and therefore more resilient to, the intense sunlight and temperatures typical of Australian environments. BlueScope scientists have tested COLORBOND® steel in some of Australia’s harshest climates. So regardless of where you are building or designing, there is likely to be a COLORBOND® steel solution that works for you. Rest assured that COLORBOND® steel is guaranteed to meet relevant Australian standards. Make sure you look for the brand as not all painted steel is genuine COLORBOND® steel.

Whether you live, or are planning to build in a bushfire prone area, or simply want to increase the bushfire protection afforded to your home, COLORBOND® steel may help protect your property. The CSIRO’s research and investigation into the performance of residential boundary fencing in bushfires found that "a steel fence offers greater protection to people's homes against bushfire than other alternative materials because of its non-combustibility"....Of the different materials tested, pre-painted and metallic coated sheet steel (in this case made from COLORBOND® steel) performed best under all exposure conditions and in particular when faced with a 30 minute flame immersion test used to stimulate potential effects of an adjacent house fire, which is common during bushfire events."
|Bushfire||Tested||As steel doesn‘t burn it can be used to increase bushfire resistance of structures. COLORBOND® steel roofing, walling, gutters and downpipes may be compliant for use in bushfire zones, including the most extreme, BAL-FZ (Bushfire Attack Level – Flame Zone) specified in AS 3959-2009.|

Five COLORBOND® steel colours meet the cool roofing 0.45 Solar Absorptance Cool Roofing DTS requirements in NCC2019 volume 1. Many people know that the colour of your roof can make a difference to your cooling bill and no less than five of the standard colours in the COLORBOND® steel range qualify as solar reflective (light coloured) roofing under the Green Star Design and As Built and Communities tools. But there‘s another way that COLORBOND® steel can help make your building more energy efficient. Every standard colour (except Night Sky®) in the COLORBOND® steel range features.
Thermatech® solar reflectance technology. Thermatech® technology is designed to reflect more of the sun‘s heat on hot sunny days, which can mean less dependence on air-conditioning, plus reduced heat stress for your roof. This makes COLORBOND® steel a good choice for your building, your wallet and our planet.
